Some info about the Church and its history
The Wesleyan Methodist "Society" in Hemsworth moved to it's present
building in 1904 from a Preaching House which had been opened in 1817. Very few changes were made to the building until 1993 when, with the motto
"Building in Faith for the Future" a scheme was launched to extend and refurbish it ready for Worship and outreach in the 21st Century.
A new Entrance and Hall were built on the lower level with existing rooms being gutted and restructured to form Meeting Rooms and a modern Kitchen.
This first stage was completed in September 1995. In the spring of 2001 the second stage was achieved which involved
refurbishing the worship area and creating a Crèche, small Kitchen and more spacious Reception Area on the upper level which opens onto Westfield Road.
The worship area is adaptable (due to a new movable staging system) and is changed to suit the
style of worship which is to take place. It has a Loop system for those who are hearing impaired and is fully accessible to the physically disabled, from the
Westfield Road entrance. Worship can be seen and heard from the Crèche.
